Since few of our customers come directly into Fundstack without having any previous solution for tracking their pipeline and relationship data, we've created a process through which we'll import your previous solution's data for free. We've previously imported client data from Salesforce, Affinity, Streak, Sevanta, and more.

To qualify for a free migration you'll need to enter your data into our Excel migration template file. Please email support@fundstack.com and we'll send over the relevant migration template.

How to use our migration template

Structure

Our Excel template is broken down into two sheets: Companies and People. These correspond to the two entities that are trackable within Fundstack. Each row of each sheet can be thought of as a profile page within your Fundstack account.

'1. Companies' Columns

Company ID

Unless you would like to retain a previous identification system from your old solution, feel free to leave this column blank.

Name

This is the name of the company profile.

Company Type

Fundstack supports a feature called types. This allows you to segment your companies and people in such a way that each type can have different metadata associated with it. Metadata are things like text and dropdown fields and are shown on a records profile.

Stage

The stage that the company is in your deal pipeline.

Description

Fundstack will automatically pull in descriptions for companies where possible. This column allows you to override our enrichment and import your own.

Domain

The domain of the company. The enrichment of a company (e.g. adding an automatic description, categories, and funding history) all depends on the company having a domain associated with it. We strongly recommend adding domains to your companies.

Notes

Each cell should contain the entire note content. If you would like to add multiple notes per profile, simply insert another column per extra note and label them clearly. Our note editor uses HTML formatting. If you would like to retain a note's formatting (i.e. bold, italic, or line breaks) then please use HTML syntax.

Owner

We can assign companies to individual users in your Fundstack account. In order for someone to be an owner, they must be a paying user on the account.

Date Created

We'll use this date to backdate the creation of companies in Fundstack.

Category

Fundstack automatically enriches companies with categories where possible. If you would like to add your own categories to companies then please list them here. Multiple categories should be separated in the cell by commas.

Origination Type

Here you can record how you found a deal. Fundstack comes with four default origination types: Outbound, Inbound, Event, Referral. Feel free to add your own, or use these.

Originator

The Fundstack user who originated the deal.

Date Originated

The date the deal was originated.

Lists

As well as categories, Fundstack supports lists. These are meant for more temporary segmentation of your companies i.e. Hotlist 2020, rather than Artificial Intelligence. Add any lists you would like companies to be added to here.

Address

For an address to be valid we need at minimum a country, but feel free to go as granular as a street address. We will try to enrich company address where possible.

'2. People' Columns

Person ID

Unless you would like to retain a previous identification system from your old solution, feel free to leave this column blank.

Company Name

It's possible to connect companies a people with a 'live' link on each profile. It's a handy tool to keep track of who works where. To connect a person to a company, include the company's name here. Please note: for this to work, the company must be listed in the '1. Companies' sheet with the exact same spelling.

Person Type

Fundstack supports a feature called types. This allows you to segment your companies and people in such a way that each type can have different metadata associated with it. Metadata are things like text and dropdown fields and are shown on a records profile.

Person Category

If you would like to add categories to people then please list them here. Multiple categories should be separated in the cell by commas. Fundstack does not automatically add person categories in the same way it does company categories.

Person List

As well as Categories, Fundstack supports Lists. These are meant for more temporary segmentation of your people i.e. Summer Party 2020, rather than European VCs. Add any lists you would like Companies to be added to here.

Full Name

Enter a person's full name in this cell to have it automatically split into the First Name and Last Name cells. You can also override this and simple add first name and last names to the respective columns manually.

Email

The person's email. Separate multiple emails by commas.

Phone Number

The person's phone number. Separate multiple numbers by commas.

Title

If you have opted to connect this person to a company, this is the title they will have added to that connection e.g. Partner or CTO.

Date Created

We'll use this date to backdate the creation of people in Fundstack.

Contact Owner

We can assign people to individual users in your Fundstack account. In order for someone to be an owner, they must be a paying user on the account.

Address

For an address to be valid we need at minimum a country, but feel free to go as granular as a street address. We will try to enrich company address where possible.
